I jsut re-watched this and I have to say, I still disagree with everyone who says it felt rushed and unfinished. While it could have been a 24 ep season and I wouldn't have complained, there wasn't actually anything important missing. It's lean, and good. Better on the second viewing actually because I realized how good the forshadowing really is, which helps explain why I don't have a problem with the second half, or even the final episode -- everything is adequately forshadowed from literally the first minute of the show. They're always talking about more than just what they're talking about. It's really quite impressive, it's rare to see an anime that is well-written (really, really rare when using Western European literary standards that normally only apply to, you know, books), but this one actually is.
