Really enjoyable (and NOT an age-gap romance!)

I was a little concerned that this would turn into a romance between a widower in his late 20s/early 30s and a high school girl. Thank goodness, it did not - the characters acknowledge the trope and run away from it at top speed. The only interest they have in each other is as friends and cooking buddies. She has the knowledge, but is afraid of the larger knives, whereas he's open to taking her directions. She's hoping to get past her fears, while he wants to make good food for his daughter.

Speaking of, the daughter is a delight. She acts like a child would, and strides the line read more
