No denouement, but a rare look at introverted women & their friendships

I'm aware that there's a bit more story in the manga than we get here. There are some characters and plots that never get off the ground, and so the anime adaptation sometimes feels a bit lightweight. Nevertheless, I appreciated being able to see characters that I didn't think ever appeared in anime: adult women who are allowed to be kooky, and shut-ins, and abrasive, and otherwise completely beyond caring about mainstream society.
