Fruits Basket offers a huge range of characters from the legendary Chinese zodiac members, to Sohma relatives, students, etc. Fruits Basket tells the tale of Tohru Honda, a kind and optimistic girl who recently suffered the tragic loss of her mother. Like typical shoujo heroines, Tooru is rather selfless and good natured. She has a positive influence on those around her. The mysterious Sohma family discover her living in a tent in their territory. They offer her a chance to live with them in exchange for household chores like cooking and cleaning.
But the mysterious Sohma is cursed and possessed by the spirits of the legendary Chinese zodiac. But despite this curse, Tohru always finds a way to accept them for their true natures, and cure them. For this very reason, this anime holds a special place in my heart. While watching Fruits Basket, fans can witness how Tooru Honda helps the Sohma family overcome their obstacles, insecurities, and shortcomings. She may look fragile but these bittersweet moments help build tremendous character development within the Sohma family, and with Tooru’s friends (Hanajima and Uotani).
I was initially encouraged to read and watch the series by my best friends. Fruits Basket is the most meaningul anime that I ever watched. The manga is the best series I ever read. Every time I pick up another episode or another chapter, I gain a new perspective of life.Despite her shortcomings, Tohru taught me to not take things for granted. She also taught me to treat my family and friends better.
