Beautiful animation, with a plot about solving an ethical dilemma that leans heavily into "love conquers all"

IN BRIEF: A young runaway moves to Tokyo amidst heavy and consistent downpours. As he slowly ascends from homelessness to a steady but shady job, he bumps into a young woman who claims she can pray away the rain, at least for a little while in an area with a small radius and her at the center. They try turning it into a business for a while, but eventually Mother Nature will have its way - the question is, what sacrifices are people willing to make to get fair weather?

Tenki No Ko ~ outstanding ~ Get a box of tissues ready.

Story: 10  Animation: 10  Sound: 10  Character: 10  Enjoyment: 10

The story takes place in the summer and its raining so hard everyday. The story was about this girl wanting to walk under the sunshine again with her mother before she dies. She prays all day. She becomes Hareonna/Sunshine girl. In this story the boy sees the girl and saves her from shady people. This story is also about a boy, who runs away and finds a gun thinking its a toy, He is caught with it in camera and he has to run away. The girl helps him.

This story will leave in a flood of tears. Remember to have a box of tears by yourself. Overall one of my favourite read more

I really like the songs (lyrics) and the story's main theme. But most of the important elements were brushed off, not much different from Shinkai's other works, and everything weighs on the visuals which are honestly not that great. also,(what feels like... too much product placements) Too much shine and realism do not equate to good visuals (I honestly do not understand the reason why his style gets so much praise) although I must agree a few frames were good. Overall.... it is an alright movie. read more
