Found the beginning a bit rough but eventually got really taken into Calm With Horses – amazing title by the way – watched it for Niamh Algar, but Cosmo Jarvis stole the spotlight. They actually worked together on another project, Raised by Wolves, albeit not in the same scenes or even timeline. Calm with Horses was a nice Irish drama about how one wrong choice can affect not only the rest of your life but also the people around you. Shame there wasn't more music as the final score was really good. read

Set in rural Ireland, Calm With Horses is a gritty and uncomfortable drama about a retired amateur boxer Douglas (Cosmo Jarvis) who becomes the strongarm of the feared Devers family in an effort to provide for his autistic young son and her mother. Flanked, and in some ways controlled, by Dympna (Barry Keoghan), when he is asked to 'deal' with a suspected paedophile he is faced with divided loyalties to the crime family and his own. Director Nick Rowland paints a bleak portrayal of troubled Douglas' life, and a stellar cast help elevate an average movie into a pretty good one. read
