how did taylor hackford go from ray to this? love ranch is filled with cliches and moments that worked better in other movies. wanna know what it's not filled with? entertainment that's what. telling a story of love, greed, prostitution and boxing and based on a true, this film really just goes from scene to scene without developing characters or giving them any motivation. you'll not care what happens next and you'll be stifling yawns throughout. not particularly shot well, not particularly edited well (not well at all actually) and not particularly acted well (not bad but from this cast?)... read more

The long-running marriage between the aging owners of a legal whorehouse comes to its biggest bump when madam reciprocates the attention of a young boxer. Mirren and Pesci are a pleasure to watch but even they can't breathe much sympathy or interest into listless, albeit "based-on-actual-facts", and overall unpleasant story. read more
