A dying detective tries to catch a serial kidnapper while a criminal psychologist interrogates one of his escaped victims. Following up the success of La ragazza nella nebbia, Carrisi sheds its realism and sets his sophomore effort in an unnamed, modern metropolis but he also gives up the media-manipulating subtext of his debuting feature for a more self-referential mood. Set design, cinematography, and even some of the dialogue push the narration towards a dreamlike atmosphere but never seem to achieve a creative tipping point that makes it unique in some way: "Into the Labyrinth" unfolds... read more
