this is a competently made horror film that suffers from one of the genre's more regular flaws: a script featuring underwritten characters prone to decisions so bad that you lose sympathy for them. the acting is good enough for what it is and director jon knautz gives the mood some oomph along with solid production but you just don't care about the lead characters, who are overly ambitious american journalists traveling halfway around the world for a sketchy story. some decent jump scares and a solid (if predictable) plot twist aside, this is pretty skippable. read more
