i've been wanting to watch this one for a long tine so i couldn't be more excited than i was yesterday when i popped it into my blu ray player (on dvd though) and pressed play. right away i was hooked. now any movie taking place on snow, okay any horror movie taking place on snow will automatically remind me of the thing, one of my fav movies of all time. this one did just that and then there was a scene where the 'heroes' visit the site where evil is unleashed and just like the thing the site is in array and there is a massive hole dug deep down. and it kind of was like the opposite of the... read more

it is a quirky addition to the christmas season, but still a fun watch. it is a weird balance between having a general plot and a lot of moments that are 100% for 10 year olds as the main audience and also having a dark, twisted sense of humor about it that would be completely wrong for kids. there is too much darkness and gore for it to be more children, but it also has a kid as the hero in a movie with cartoon logic. i'm not sure i really see them pivoting into being slave traders at the end really a happy ending. read more
