i've been wanting to watch this one for a long tine so i couldn't be more excited than i was yesterday when i popped it into my blu ray player (on dvd though) and pressed play. right away i was hooked. now any movie taking place on snow, okay any horror movie taking place on snow will automatically remind me of the thing, one of my fav movies of all time. this one did just that and then there was a scene where the 'heroes' visit the site where evil is unleashed and just like the thing the site is in array and there is a massive hole dug deep down. and it kind of was like the opposite of the thing in the sense that the american/english released the evil while the norwegians (either norwegian or finnish--i can't tell) have to save the day. if you are a fan of the thing doesn't this sound awesome? unlike the thing though this is a horror comedy. it actually wasn't that funny at the beginning as it set up the story or throughout most of it's runtime but there were bits of comedy. the comedy comes at the end, when all is said and done and then the final scene plays out. comedy gold and if you haven't seen the shorts that preceded this film it will come as a complete surprise and a stroke of genius. i expected a lot of death and gore from this movie but in the end it really is a fairy tale and a kids movie, albiet a kids movie with full frontal male nudity, horror movie elements and swearing. really well done, really exciting and really a whole lot of fun. i can't recommend this enough and i am glad that after five years i finally got to see it. production design: 8 out of 10 cinematography: 8 out of 10 re-playability: 8 out of 10 originality: 9 out of 10 costumes: 9 out of 10 directing: 9 out of 10 editing: 8 out of 10 acting: 8 out of 10 music: 8 out of 10 script: 8 out of 10 83/100
