now with youtube, this doesn't really pass for a "viral video"... it's mostly a bunch of drunk teenagers talking s**t. but back when people actually passed bootleg vhs tapes around, i can imagine there was a lot of schadenfreude in watching this with friends and mocking the impossibly clueless metalheads.
nowadays, this is just an amazing time capsule. firstly, you're watching the interviewees thinking "huh, all judas priest's fans are about 24 years old", then the interviewer asks them "how old are you guys?"
"16!"..."13!"... holy crap...metal ages you, i guess. then he finally finds some adults, the older generation of metal. he asks these guys who look about 38 how it feels to bring up the younger generation of metal fans. then asks their ages. "24." "25." (!) did everyone in the '80s just look like they were on death's door for half their lives?!
everyone's drunk, everyone's pretty idiotic. i did love the one girl who actually looked pretty put-together and said it was her first time ever going to a metal concert. later on, some dudes try to squeeze in on her while she's on camera and she just turns and says "please get away from me.... seriously." lol the appropriate reaction for these guys.
a lot of great music came out of this genre and period, but this film does nothing to endear metalheads to anyone else. my guess is these were like the '80s equivalent of dude-bros. watch and mock.
