melancholia, while not von trier's best film, is still pretty damn good. it's very von trier like and it excels in mod and tension. it's typically sad and depressing and really takes you places that you just don't go to in films to often. it's told in two parts and has amazing performances and for a movie that's kind of slow it holds your attention, grips you with tension and leaves you with a felling of dread from the opening moments till long after the film ends. it's art house science fiction played out like a drama and trust when i say see it without reading much about it. it's read more
