The Snake Pit

the psychology is a little suspect (though still way better than spellbound) and the plot is a little thin. however, the film still works because of a powerhouse performance from olivia de havilland. she absolutely carries the film with her work. she captures that loose grip on reality so well without being too showy about it. i wish there was a little more development given to some of the side characters, they are all pretty one-note and get discarded quickly. they completely underused celeste holm, who is there at the beginning and then essentially disappears. apparently this film helped to... read more
