publishers dc comics and marvel comics are direct competitors. while marvel comics quickly built a very successful universe and released it in theaters, dc comics tried to target the dvd and rag market. that resulted in a lot of – usually – very enjoyable animated films for a niche audience. most of these cartoons were based on beloved comics and barely deviated from the source material. for example, classic 'return of the dark knight' was released in two sturdy parts. did not expect flashpoint part 2, but hey, i'll take it. it was fun to see barry and jay exchange tips diving into other characters we haven't seen in a while, like black canary and hawkman. also makes a decent 4th of july movie, so there's that. read more
