i'd kept hearing about hte wonderful michael shannon yet, to my knowledge, the only thing i'd seen him in was man of steel. so it was with intrigue that i watched this to see what the fuss was about. now i get it. he's just a bit bloody ace. there's a brutal coolness to this film which perfectly mirrors the character of kuklinski. there's nothing showy going on. it gets the job done. read more

so i was excited to see this movie, very much so. i missed it in theatres and when i saw it for five bucks i couldn't say no. i love michael shannon and i love gangster flicks so how could this be bad. well it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. michael shannon delivers the knockout performance i wanted him to bring to this role. then you have a great winona ryder as his wife, ray liotta as a gangster, an excellent and unrecognizable david schwimmer and an equally unrecognizable and excellent chris evans. the cast delivers, the sets, locations and make-up all deliver but the story and the read more
