i didn't like ending in the movie, but well, that is to expect too much from something big as that vulcano vesuvius. good characters, but bad ending. read more

this film is 1 hour and 44 minutes long. at 1 hour and 10 minutes the volcano finally fucking explodes. they answered the question i had when i saw the trailer though. "how the hell do you make a whole film about the fall of pompeii?" you do it by attempting to tease the audience with the volcano blasting off for 1 hour and 10 minutes before it finally fucking explodes. that 1 hour 44 minutes includes 10 minutes of trailers. also, where was the blood? those fights were brutal. why wasn't there blood everywhere? go back to resident evil you hack. read more

pompeii isn't a bad film so much as it's an astoundingly mediocre one. i'm not a huge fan of disaster films as a whole; the genre tends to sacrifice plot and acting for the sake of big budget spectacle and while there can be fun in that, often it's quite the letdown. this is essentially a roland emmerich film as directed by paul w.s. anderson, which is a doomed idea. the story is a mish-mash of gladiator, titanic and volcano; its lack of originality is actually pretty staggering. and yet, it succeeds because anderson is able to hold back his urges to fall upon his visual crutches and lets the... read more

I wanted to see this in theaters but never got a chance to. I'm sure it would've looked cool on the big screen, but my TV did well too. I didn't know much about the film, other than obvious things about it. I'll admit the film had some cliche bits, but for some reason I just really liked this film. I guess it helps that in school I was pretty interested in learning about Pompeii. In any case it's a pretty great film with quite a bit of action.
