The film "The Impossible" is the best work of cinema in the genre of disaster films based on the great tragedy that occurred at the end of 2004. this film sits between 3.5 and 4 stars. i'm giving it the 4 because naomi watts was just fantastic here. and there is a scene where tom holland helps her climb a tree and it was like watching his audition for spider-man. after seeing that i would of cast him right away. also the film looks amazing and the tsunami is suitably haunting. it's pretty conventional and hollywoodized story wise (i think) but if you like emotional sentimentality that tugs at the heart strings and is done well enough not to feel sappy and overly cheesy then you can't go wrong with this. also, it's better than tsunami:... read

the impossible is a disgusting movie, yes, set on the whitest thai island i've ever seen, with half of the running time devoted to just the most brazen unsubtle disaster porn, but even despite all that... it's one of the most boring movies of the year. read
