a visually decent movie adaptation of a musically peerless musical from perhaps the best source material ever written -- this lesmiz movie draws deep memories of a hearty time of hope, friendship and integrity. hathaway, jackman and gavroche shine and the start and end were stirring, with a cute new hopeful song midway. however one star had to be docked off for questionable vocal casting choices, most notably the dispassioned renderer of stars.. read more

da fuck,so much work has been done in this film, it's really impressive. so beautiful, i've maybe gave it a 5 star, but i think if it ended on 20 minutes earlier, could be a way more impact. read more

positive: hugh jackman was outstanding. he truly was the standout performance of the film and i think he honestly deserves that oscar nomination. anne hathaway; barely on screen but she sure as hell leaves an impression. possibly the first time i've though "nah, wouldn't" about her as well. amanda seyfried was a lot better than i expected although i thought samantha banks as Éponine was a far more engaging actress. the negative russel crowe was pretty crap. where was the power and authority javert? he managed to be the dick that the character requires but that's it. the working class seemed... read more
