how did they manage to fuck this up? the idea is fantastic and when they hit 1984 i was genuinely intrigued. the start wasn't too bad, it was nice to see a proper battle against the robots. i was a bit distracted when jai courtney got naked however. isn't everyone starving in the future? how the fuck did he build such incredible muscle mass under those terrible conditions? i don't think i've ever left the cinema so frustrated at the number of plot holes. unanswered questions is one thing and when they're trying to set up a series of films i can understand why they'd do that. the plot holes here though are something else. i just ended up annoyed. the one thing that could have made this film better was a huge twist like john connor being a robot. that was taken from here to make a trailer. what could have been a fantastic "oh shit!" moment was instead something you were waiting for. also, talk about chekhov's gun. how many times did they need to show that polymimetic alloy? just once would have been enough but they had to keep showing it so we didn't forget it was there. first time it appeared i though "nice touch". then they showed it at least twice more and talked about how it needed a processor. treat me like i'm dumb please film.
