the good: the single shot style/real time nature really helped with the atmosphere of this film. nigh on seamless editing sold it. the polaroid flash scene was nicely put together, you were just waiting for somebody to appear in frame and that's what you got, but they kept you on the edge expecting it. the bad: the last 20 minutes or so. from the moment her uncle comes back they made it clear what's happening. there was a point, in the bathroom, where i started to think that maybe it was going a different direction but ultimately it didn't. it's a shame as elizabeth olsen is a surprisingly... read

elizabeth olsen was one of the surprise breakout stars of 2011 when her film martha marcy may marlene was released, showing that this younger sister of the infamous olsen twins had more acting power than both of the other two combined. unfortunately 2012 was not a good year for her, as she had a supporting role in the thrill-less and pointlessly twisty thriller red lights and a starring role in this. jennifer lawrence had one major dud among her many successes in the house at the end of the street, but silent house makes that film look like a classic horror film by comparison. olsen plays a... read
