Review of Avengers: Age of Ultron

after a slew of evil-ai destroying humanity movies, one would not expect the avengers to be fighting such an amorphous villain of their own creation. apparently ultron the automaton was created in the 50's hence even when souped up with modern cgi, he seems a little disengaged and hardly "evil enough". which perhaps is whedon's point, in taking this franchise to a reflective level usually only reserved for spidey. too much time is taken to justify various backgrounds, resulting in a squeezed, choppy storyline. there are a few wisecracks that keep the laughs going despite the generally grim tone of the story, of which my summary fave is when stark says to banner: "we're mad scientists, monsters. you gotta own it." snidely hinting that the monstrosity doesn't truly arise when the hulk/prometheus turns green, but whilst dr. jekyll plays dr. frankenstein with "noble" intent.
