Loosely based on a book about the making of Psycho, a biopic focusing on the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville, believed to be a major creative element in the director's output. Hopkins' uncanny ability in impersonating Hitch vocally still isn't enough to sell elaborate but unconvincing makeup. Mirren's Alma steals an otherwise mediocre show that's fun enough to watch for Psycho fans but unlikely to really appeal to the average viewer. read more
