i think of frances as an adult who isnt grown up and struggles to be financially stable considering her only job is dancing, but not for long. she doesnt see herself doing anything else but dancing, and she doesnt really see herself doing anything else. the only person who really gets her is sophie whos been close with her since college. sophie is growing up when frances wants to stay the same. this drifts the two apart. after she loses her dancing job and isnt close with her close friend anymore, shes lost, and we see her try to find herself. when she meets new people, she rambles on and on to them about her life even though they didnt really ask. she cant live in an apartment unless she has roommates. whats interesting is that somewhere in middle of the film, she says that she likes being alone when really i dont think she can handle being alone. shes always with someone, and when shes not, she isnt happy. not until the very end.
i was really uncomfortable with this character. i was having trouble relating to her other than shes into arts (in her case its dancing) and doesnt see herself doing anything else. it wasnt a hard watch per se, but whenever she rambled on, i just wanted her to just stop talking. i think this film shows francess midlife crisis (quartlife if youre that person even though some of us wont even reach to 60, lets be honest) and overcoming it.
i liked how theres usually music playing when shes outside the place shes staying and not inside. i dont know if its intentional or what its purpose is, but i like it. i like the use of the addresses francess is staying in for chapters. but, honestly, this film is forgettable to me. im sorry, i had to say it.
