This is definitely the first half of a Hunger Games movie stretched out to two hours long. By which I mean it is easily the best Hunger Games movie. Blimey, it's good. read more

part 3 of the four part hunger games series was finally released and i went to see it as soon as i could. it was probably the worst of the 3 so far, 2 by far being the greatest. that's not saying it was a bad film. it was well directed and kept me entertained and having never read the books i did find it very intriguing. and then there is jennifer lawrence, julianne moore and philip seymour hoffman, all 3 who are always on top form. the problem with this movie and why it isn't as good as the other two is that not much actually happens in it. really, why they needed to split this up into two... read more

it is just a mess, there is nothing even a little bit interesting going on here. i haven't seen part 2, but i'm guessing there isn't enough story across both of them to make one movie, let alone two. i have zero investment in the characters at this point and that is all that they have to go on in this film. the plot is shallow and trite and the extremely talented cast is doing absolutely nothing. i'm not sure the rebellion is even the good guys, when peeta says that maybe they shouldn't start a civil war, they are ready to kill him. if you want to execute people who speak out against war, read more

Like its predecessors, Mockingjay is not bad, not good, but just manages to exist in his own little world of adolescent naivité and pubertal desires. The more political approach is a welcome change to an otherwise action-oriented series, but the shallowness and simplicity of the conflict is severely hurting. these films get better with each sequel. they really got the escalation paced so well, by now weve got a strong cast with goals and flaws, i really wanted to see how this ended. the capital and the rebels start their fight. katniss becomes an unwilling face of revolution. its all about whos last standing, simple. its switched gears from a story about personal choices single combat to a bigger, more grim, worldview. there are bystanders and consequences. again, solid acting, a good script, great costumes and sets, and a twist or two that feel earned. it feels very well polished, and really read more

very different from the previous two films. i feel that jennifer lawrence really got time to shine in this film and the emotion that she can convey so seemingly effortlessly should definitely be commended. not having read the books, i had no idea what i was in for during this film but very much enjoyed it. the cgi was stunning, the acting by lawrence fantastic - although i felt that the ending came in a little late. nonetheless, a fantastic watch. read more
