so here is the final (or is it) hunger games movie. like the films that came before it (except the excellent and best in series part2) it delivers what we want from the series but never really does much more than that. this time we get the epic conclusion that has been building and we get the second half of what should of been one movie.
it picks up right where mj1 ends off and delves right into the story, so if you don't remember much or haven't seen the others then good luck trying to figure this one out. unlike mj1 this one is all action and much less talk; chases, traps, attacks and killing abound. like the other films the acting and look is very solid; j-law is as usual amazing, most of the cast is excellent and a few are just your typical middle grade actors who look good on camera.
while i like this series and can see the appeal it was never my favourite. here it's exciting and kind of predictable and in the end kind of anti-climactic. it ends but then it keeps going. it tries to deliver a twist that i saw coming from the beginning of this film.
don't get me wrong. it's a good film and a fitting conclusion to the series. and it's very entertaining. it's just not fully formed, it's half a movie, and it doesn't deliver the emotional wallop four movies and four or five years of investment deserve.
if you are a fan of the series then of course this film cannot be missed and in the end it will serve you well.
*a slight mention must go to the fact that i rated this one lower than mj1 which got an 80%. i actually think this might be a better movie but i would have to see them again for a better and stronger nad more accurate rating. i'm rating this one lower than part 1 but something tells me that will change one day...
