from the case files of real-life paranormal investigators ed and lorraine warren, "the conjuring" tells the story of a family tormented by a dark and sinister force. with very few nits to pick, this was a creepy and effective ghost / possession story that kept my attention from start to finish. a great start to the halloween movie season! read more

almost fell asleep thrice but it was mainly because it was raining outside and from the comfort of my best friends bed everything felt nice and cozy. watching this with a whole class of screaming kids was a lot better. read more

well this movie is good , i like the fact is based on a true story, the characters are nice , i like so much vera farmiga and patrick wilson working together, all the actors in this movie are good, good scenes. i think the conjuring is on the list of the movies you must watch if you love scary movies. read more

Rule no 1: always listen to your dog If my dog doesn't want to enter my house, I would get a new house. Would have saved them a lot of trouble. Gonna go through the whole The Conjuring franchise and was a bit scared based on the bad reviews. This one was actually really good. Interesting story and some actually good jumpscares. read more

The Conjuring is set in 1971 and follows husband and wife paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they attend a farmhouse which is owned by the Perron family who claim it to be haunted. The Warrens have developed a name for themselves in their field, notably from their work in capturing the spirit of the possessed doll Annabelle. Yet, the disturbing events suffered by the unfortunate family cause them to determine that the house needs an exorcism as they themselves become prey to the malevolent force within. film 44 of obligatory october of horror surprising lack of actual traditional conjuring in this. a decent horror movie using every cliché in the book is apparently the saviour of modern horror. i don't know, man. listen, this isn't bad. it's very spooky and quite enjoyable. the scares feel earned and they make sense, even if they might have been better with less scare chord usage. its ending is sort of cheesy but quite satisfying. (kamikaze pigeon notwithstanding) the conjuring simply doesn't reinvent the wheel, which is totally fine, and it's an enjoyable horror movie but i disagree with it... read more
