quick hit: cell is a misfire in just about every way. the latest adaptation of a stephen king story is poorly plotted with bad dialogue and features half-hearted performances from the full cast of usually-fine actors. the tale of a viral outbreak that attacks humanity through cell phone signals features commentary that is somehow heavy-handed and yet shallowly explored at the same time, while director tod williams films it in the dreary style that is indistinguishable from dozens of other zombie-like films. there was potential in a film version of cell, but none of it was realized here.... read more

die grundlagen sind da aber leider mehr auch nicht. hier fehlt alles, was den film interessant machen könnte: hintergrundgeschichte für die charaktere, zeit zum erzählen der story - einfach alles, was über das gelegentliche zombiegemetzel hinausgeht. schade schokolade. read more

My quick rating - 4;4/10. Ok; I never read the book; so I won't butcher this due to not following it. I will say this movie was not very good. First; it screams rip off of "The Signal" (2007) and I am unsure if that movie had any relation to the Stephen King book either. Either way; the movie is about a signal through cell phones that drives everyone basically insane. ALthough in this movie; that insanity is very tame. The very good cast just doesn't seem invested into making this movie anything else but mediocre. And I am a huge fan of both Jackson and Cusack. In attempting to find the cause... read more

The airport opening scene was pretty intense although a bit silly at times and then some terrible CGI reminded me that this is one of those straight to DVD movies that Hollywood turns to churn out these days. Two pretty good actors with John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson couldn't even save this idea clearly stolen from "The Walking Dead" or similar themed movies. Could of been a whole lot better but instead just turned into a forgetful experience. read more
