a lightweight but enjoyable black comedy, dom hemingway succeeds simply because jude law is so damned good in the titular role. as a boozing, cocky safecracker trying to find his way after twelve years in prison, law commits himself completely to the role and has a blast. by no means is this an oscar-caliber performance; there's too much shouting and yelling in dom and it's just too histrionic to be called truly great but it doesn't need to be. what it needs is to be fun and amusing while carrying the occasional dramatic point, and law nails that tone perfectly. the script is highly read more
