A man (Joseph Cotten) is chased up and down city buildings by the jealous husband of his mistress. Conceived as a 3-part entr'acte for a Mercury Theater stage presentation of William Gillette's 1894 comedy, this 1938 silent homage to the Harold Lloyd-era of slapstick comedy was long considered a lost Orson Welles film until a partially edited working copy resurfaced in Italy and was restored by the George Eastman House. Only the first 7 minutes are (frantically and imaginatively) edited, while the rest includes alternate takes: still, in-depth composing, striking settings, dizzying framing make this is a definite must-watch for any Welles aficionado.
