a second viewing of draft day has caused me to raise the rating up just a bit. i mean i thought i'd be bored watching this a second time but i wasn't. i thoroughly enjoyed it. who knew a movie about a guy picking football players would be as enjoyable as this? when i say that i mean it is a a fun ride and keeps you entertained but at the same time it is kind of bland which is weird because i was never bored by it. maybe it's bland because i don't give a damn about football? maybe that's why the ending feels somewhat anti-climactic to me? maybe if i liked football i'd feel more emotionally read

this film is more thrilling than it has any right to be. the story, a tale about drama surrounding draft day trades in the nfl, doesn't inspire confidence that it could be that good. but reitman, despite not really innovating with the plot of the film, injects enough drama and tension within this story to make this film work. relying heavily on split screens in which the characters can take up space in both frames, reitman is able to create a visually dynamic and more interesting visual representation of what really is just two people talking on the phone. the main plot and narrative thrust... read
