gonzalo lópez-gallego's open grave is an intriguing horror-thriller that doesn't quite live up to its potential. there is a great set-up, with sharlto copley's character waking up in a mass grave suffering from amnesia only to escape and find that there are a group of others in a nearby house with the same problem. as chris and eddie borey's script expands itself out things become more intriguing and the mysteries actually pay off in a way that not a lot of independent horror manages to accomplish. the problem, unfortunately, is that the payoff comes amidst some moments of very poor dialogue... read more

Amnesic man comes to in a mass grave within the woods and tries to remember who he is and what happened to him and to a group of strangers barricading in a house nearby. Final twist is fun but by the time you get there the film has thrown you so many red herrings it doesn't really matter anymore. Still, strong performances and competent production values make the ride worth a horror buff's while. read more
