if some sort of movie angel from the future showed up in my projector room praising a movie starring a pregnant russian whore, a mundane working class mother, a misanthropic war vet, and a believable child actor--i would have told it to fuckin' beat it before i pull out the can opener on its ass. if that same space traveling scumbag told me that the actors were people i admire and respect, i would have right then and there kicked it in whatever futuristic junk is between it's rusty legs. well, fuck me saint anger. who would have known the time traveler was right. i guess i won't be receiving... read

a different kind of saint. insight into how it's important not to prejudge (grumpy old men, in particular) based on appearances and outward habits, showing that there is potential for past & future good in all of us, especially the unique opportunities to help people around who may be overwhelmed by vastly different struggles. read

while not the most original film i have ever seen, st. vincent does have a lot going for it. first and foremost is bill murray. he is just amazing here and a laugh right from start to finish (even during the touching and sweet moments). second, the whole cast is great and melissa mccarthy is great in an against type role. the kid (don't feel like looking up his name) is fantastic too, without those annoying child actor moments that many child actors seem to have. naomi watts is awesome too. and then chris o'dowd is his usual hilarious and watchable self. i love that guy. the story is great,... read
