wow, what can i say. my dad showed me the other movie called almost the same thing, but with 'quake' at the end. ("san andreas quake") and i must say, this movie kicked out the other one through the window. the rock was badass as always, and the cgi effects in this...gosh. it was truly realistic. i liked it! read more

so lex luthor's plan finally comes to fruition. even with the rock there he comes through and fucks up the san andreas fault for everyone. this isn't a film you'll look back on in years to come and think "fuck yeah i want to watch san andreas" but if it's on tv you'll watch it. a bit like volcano or dante's peak. what i don't recommend doing is sitting next to the cretinous fuckwit i did whilst at the cinema. opening scene is a young woman's car crashing and almost going down a ravine. bear in mind we're at the cinema. the person next to me exclaims "oh dear!". this happened at multiple read more

one thing you want out of a disaster movie like san andreas is to be entertained and on that level san andreas passes tremendously. it's got thrilling action and destruction, intense music, a great performance from the always wonderful paul giamatti and last but not least it stars the rock. so i was entertained and i would recommend this film to all the blockbuster action cinephiles out there. i had always said, from the trailer, that san andreas would be a better version of the awful 2012 from hackmiester general roland emmerich. and while i was right it still featured a lot of stuff that... read more

for a disaster film, san andreas cares very little about human life. so much so, that it distracts very heavily from what is a decent performance from the cast and some good special effects surrounding it. the earthquake that catalyzes the events in this film is a true disaster in every sense of the word. millions of people are killed and the lives of millions more are completely destroyed. but, this film doesn't care about that. it only cares about the lives of the main characters, as if to put their lives on a pedestal over every one else who is dying in this film. there are certainly moral... read more

there are bigger disaster films. there are dumber ones -- and hell, there are much smarter ones, for that matter. there are less hokey ones. but there aren't other ones that have the rock. how is it that dwayne johnson manages to make just about everything he's in much more watchable than it otherwise would be? he doesn't make the contrived plot conveniences any less silly and he doesn't make the characters more developed than their slightly-above-cardboard depth. and yet somehow, his presence helps lift san andreas to a level of fun watchability, even if it isn't good. it's his ability to... read more

Chopper-driving cop with an unbeaten track record of rescues storms across California to save his almost-ex wife and their teenage daughter from a swarm of massive quakes ravaging Los Angeles and San Francisco. Enjoyable disaster-movie with disposable dialogue and sympathetic characters rushing unscathed through apocalyptic destruction (which, apparently, gives them a special license to loot). My quick rating - 6;0/10. So gotta check movie critiques at the door and don't expect anything but what a summer blockbuster should be. Eye candy. Yep; that is exactly what you get; buildings crumbling; helicopters rescuing people in ways that break all laws of physics. So is this a bad thing? Not at all. If you plopped down 20 bucks for a ticket and expected anything more then great effects with very limited story you may want to re-evaluate why you are at the theater since this movie should have been no surprise to you. Hmm well it was at least better than the made for video "San Andreas Quake" but not by much.Of course the first thing is the unbelievable part of it but its expected with this kind of movie.The Rock didn't really have to do much but show his muscles when it counted.The effects were ok in parts but in others it was just downright lame.Might have been better on a big screen but in the end I'm glad I didn't pay to see this at the movies.
