it takes a solid premise for a horror film and then stretches it as thin as it possibly can. the concept of a slow, relentless demon following you is terrifying and for the most part it uses that concept well. however, there wasn't a feature length story there and as a result it drags. there are long stretches when nothing is happening and to create tension, they lean on cheap jumpscares. the musical score was super heavy handed as it desperately tried to generate tension, but at least for me, it undermined the tension by being over the top. also, if you are a demon trying to sneak up on read more

С одной стороны хочется похвалить Митчела за то что смог режиссерски вытащить фильм, у которого сценарий описывается парочкой слов. Но с другой стороны, он же и написал этот сценарий. Хз как относиться к этому фильму, вроде бы интересный и саспенс есть, но фильм какой-то сырой что ли. this is one of those trope-filled horror films with the “slow but unstoppable killer” premise, really reduced to its most basic form. i suppose the twist is that rather than the teens that have sex being targeted, having sex is the only way to escape here. the concept offers opportunities to comment on how class inequality means death inequality or the terror of dying alone and misunderstood, but it's really not interested in saying anything that isn't obvious in every horror film: death is inevitable, and only the closeness of others makes it bearable. i finally got around to watching this film after having heard it over and over in connection with the babadook, one of my favorites. but funnily enough, the two films are actually not at all alike: the babadook is a film that deftly masquerades as a horror movie while telling a universal story that most would place in a drama, whereas this one is a horror film not unlike many in its genre today that put their novel ideas before anything else. and in fact, i wouldnt even call the idea at the heart of this film all that new, given that fear of sex has often been the subject of horror. so what... read more

Recently I went to a Comic Con and attended the Robert Englund talk and he personally recommended this film to the crowd watching.I thought I would take a look at this much hyped up film and its certainly differently.It's more of a thinking type of horror,with the constant feel of being followed so kudos to the makers for making the audience feel at unease but without giving it away I just wondered if it should be in the horror category.It would be nice to see more of this style of movie but with this I feel they could of gone even further but its nice for a change for a horror? to get a high... read more
