just as i thought i liked this even more on my second viewing. generally this happens when watching a woody allen film. i am also bumping it up 3% to a nice score of 77. what's great about this film is that it is a drama and a comedy. the comedy mainly comes from emma stone and the scenes where joaquin phoenix is giving his lectures. the drama comes from everything else. it's also a but of a mystery movie. these genres come and go throughout the film and you never know what is coming next. even on a second viewing i was excited to see what would happen next. as i watched the film i couldn't... read more

the more that you enjoy woody allen's type of humor and the unique authorial voice that he has when he makes films, the more that you will enjoy irrational man. this film really feels like a woody allen movie in ways that some of his more recent efforts do not feel like one. and, that, admittedly, comes with its advantages. it is a funny film with some really sharp and witty one liners that joachim phoenix is able to deliver in just the right way. furthermore, his advanced age hasn't seemed to catch up with him, in terms of the intellectual rigor of his themes and the things that he is read more

6.5 irrational man película que debe hacer woody allen cada año. siempre con ideas originales y personajes atormentados. en cada acto la cosa cambia radicalmente, convirtiendose en un nuevo genero. de una comedia romantico, se pasa a una de asesinatos, y finalmente a drama. solo a woody allen se sale bien ese tipo de cambios. read more
