Review of Avengers: Infinity War

marvel finally gets all (most) of its characters together for this one big explosive movie. such a thing comes with pros and cons. on the plus side, if you've died to see the rocket racoon blast down aliens next to the winter soldier, you're in for a treat. this is very much a big amalgamation of all the characters that has ever been mentioned in the marvel movies, except for my boy ant man. the cost however is that by making such a big crossover movie, the directors have to fit in the narrative of 20 or so characters in an ~150minutes runtime, which gives all the characters limited space to develop. they do focus a lot of screentime on thanos however, which makes him a more intresting villain besides loki, but that doesn't really say much, because the majority of the marvel villains are garbage tier. the movie is very much a standard action blockbuster. it's fun, mostly predictable, has a big fight against noname alien guys, and has as all the other marvel movies, its usual marvel quip humor, which works at times, and at other times undermines scenes in the movie. predictable as the movie (mostly) is, i at least have to give them credit for the bold way this movie ends. while it's impossible to completely judge the movie before the sequel comes out, it took a risk with the ending, which, if played out correctly, will make me appreciate the path they took here. having seen civil war, with a no-impact ending, and me not in general trusting marvel to do such a radical change, i'm not expecting much, but hey, i might be positively suprised. all in all, i don't regret seeing it, but i probably wont rush to rewatch it any time soon. it kept me intrested enough to see it's sequel when it comes out though, and it was entertaining enough to spend a ticket on. if you are a big marvel fan, i'm sure you'll love this. if you just want a summer blockbuster, you can watch this, but be prepared that it's only half a movie
