On December 21st, 1970, planetary rockstar Elvis Presley paid a visit to US President Richard Nixon and, while the content of their conversation remains unknown, the photo of their handshake is said to be the single most requested photo from all those housed in the National Archives. A facetious, imaginary recreation of the event (and of the complicated background diplomacy that made it possible), "Elvis & Nixon" doesn't make it anything more than it actually was: an insignificant meeting between two extremely significant people. It's amazing what they will try and make a movie of these days. This so called meeting between the King of Rock and Roll and the President did take place so I guess it was a factual event. As to what was discussed at the meeting well no one I guess will ever know but it was apparently about Elvis joining the FBI. So yes this is a comedy but for me it was more like a TV movie. Good performances by both Spacey and Shannon in the main roles. read more
