Everyone seems to have their own unique thoughts on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Some love him and some hate him. I, on the other hand, can't wrap my head around him, because I've seen him in a lot of different roles. That basically tells me that, as a wrestler, he's amazingly not type-casted - which should give some insight into his talent. try hard with a vengeance. likeable and watchable enough, and i stress enough because it never goes the extra mile in anything except the runtime which is the least excusable offence. felt like there was more spontaneity in the few outtakes you get at the end than the actual movie. something about the way the rock plays it here reminded me of an old friend who's always trying to be funny but comes across forced so you never really know what his deal is. still, even when they're not hitting any highs it's kinda nice to get a simple buddy action/comedy in the age of visual excess. read more

Some decent one-liners punctuated by a lot of puerile jokes and body humour. The story is tissue thin which is acceptable, the action scenes poorly choreographed and filmed which is also acceptable. The problem is it just tries too hard and is lowest-common-denominator humour that is not very funny.

I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I honestly loved it to death. I didn't expect some of the stuff. It really kinda had me on my feet. It was hilarious and action packed. An all around great film. read more

This movie was pretty much what was sold to me and what I hoped it would be. The Rock and Kevin Hart playing more or less amped up versions of themselves. A lot of the success of this movie has everything to do with their chemistry and being in sync comedically. It had heart and a good message about bullying and the effects it can have over your life. Kind of surprised this didnt get a sequel, seemed like the kind of thing that would have made more. read more

My quick rating - 6;2/10. A good buddy flick movie that has some quality laughs in it. If you are a fan of either Rock (Johnson) or Kevin Hart you should enjoy this. Both are pretty spot on their comedy game here. The actual plot showing snippets of the past in flashbacks does being a little bit more to the table but don't expect to be surprised at all. A sit back and enjoy type movie. Steer clear if Harts voice gets annoying to you. read more

a cookie-cutter summer comedy with crime drama elements lazily thrown in the mix. the plot is very easily predictable and tries nothing new. kevin hart plays the same character in every movie he's ever in. no variety. on the other hand, dwayne johnson is the silver lining of this film. his character of bob stone is well-written and versatile. but that's about the only positive this movie has to offer. most of the jokes feel misplaced and fall flat. and the jumpy pacing makes this film's runtime feel longer than it actually is. overall, a forgettable experience. read more
