popped up in the "available to download" section on netflix so i went for it as i hadn't seen it in quite a while. it's a flawed film but it has some really good moments. this is the stuff that will smith is really good at playing now. someone who is good at heart but has an internal struggle. there's a few missed opportunities to explore the more morose version of hancock but overall it's a good watch. anyway, how many other films have the lead shove one mans head up another's arse? that's a list. edit: https://letterboxd.com/christophorus/list/lead-character-shoves-someones-head-up-someone/... read more

first half of this movie is a four star film. it's original, exciting, funny and ahead of its time in concept. an anti-superhero if you will. it's well shot, and faced paced and in typical peter berg fashion, very entertaining. the second half of this movie is a three star film. it is more generic, it diverges into two different stories that don't get enough attention, it has too many coincidences that drive the story forward and the whole ending feels rushed trying to fit in too much and not succeeding. it's never terrible, it's always watchable but the second half suffers in comparison to... read more
