fffffff Mechagodzilla?? A Gundam..!!!??? the Iron Giant...?? (Why you gotta hurt me again) Kaneda's Bike.. !!! Lost my shit so many times. This movie was really wholesome and very entertaining. only thing that i really liked in this movie that's "the shining" sequence. it was funny, mostly cause that sequence in pg-13 movie. everything else is kinda typically; main villian boring, main characters are dull (i don't even remember their names) story in this movie need only for references and action is not exciting at all. so i don't understand why this movie has so high ratings. read more

i'd heard it was pop culture heavy but i hadn't prepared myself for it. this is on another level. it was nice to see the wide variety of characters they'd got into the film but it's not quite a film that i'll want to watch any time soon so a lot of the easter eggs will be lost. shout out for incidental music from back to the future though. that tickled me. read more

as the film approached its final climax, i accidentally brought up the time bar, realized there was still an hour and 20 minutes to go, and wondered how many more underwhelmingly expensive set pieces and old pop culture-referencing distractions it was going to sluggishly drag itself through at the near-complete expense of all the substance it could have legitimately had. if it just wanted to be a fun video-gamey adventure-spectacle about teenagers versus an evil corporation, it should have been half its length. read more

Story: 9 Visuals: 10 Sound: 8 Character: 8 Enjoyment: 9

Over 300+ easter eggs, good story, amazing CGI, i absolutely love it. The only bad thing is the forced relationship between the two main characters, isn't cool to see a person saying "i love you" for a person he met like 2-3 days ago, doesn't feel right and isn't realistic, those things take time and that is my only issue with the movie.

a samurai jumps from serenity and transforms into gundam to save the iron giant from mechagodzilla. that is a real moment in this movie. it is a nonstop barrage of pop culture references (almost all from the 80s), that has a loose story filling in the cracks. with any lesser director, this would be unwatchable, but spielberg is able to elevate it into the realm of ok. it moves at a good pace and avoids getting too sidetracked on its pop culture references too often, but it is clear priority number one was making sure deloreans, tron bikes, buckaroo banzai, and atari games got all the most read more

extremely boring but rarely more so than any other videogame movie. i was surprised how understated it was, especially compared to the book (probably something like 70% of the movie has no dialog and just feels like the longest unreal engine tech demo). it's truly a testament to the power of hot actors, good marketing, and witty one liners that the repulsion towards ready player one's cynical ip laundering hasn't been directed towards marvel or disney or real-life-rpo fortnite. being force fed an officially licensed breakfast of franchise crossovers is just pop culture now. at least with read more

This is watched and reviewed with that aside and do yourself a favor; don't read the IMDB reviews because all you will get is "the book; blah blah blah" and zero stars. After seeing this I sort of regretted not seeing this on the big screen as it would of been even better with the surround sound etc. The movie is visually exciting and you just don't know where to look as the screen fills with memorable references to lots of pop cultures movies and the soundtrack is mostly 80's music. there is even an extended homage to "The Shining" movie. Steven Spielberg is at the helm of this sci-fi set in a virtual reality world whereby participants are able to escape their miserable real-lives and become and experience whatever it is they desire. this movie was a heartless dumpster fire. an assault on the senses and on everything morally good in this world. they gave the iron giant a gun and made him fight mechagodzilla-who-didn't-even-look-like-mechagodzilla while "march" was playing. they pronounced kaneda wrong. they butchered the overlook hotel, making me never want to see the shining again. i hate this movie. read more
