Ouija: Origin of Evil

i did not watch the first ouija , on account of everyone saying it was awful, but checked this out since it's mike flanagan. reactions to it described it as much improved under his directorial hand. which i assume it was, because this was watchable. but at a cost: as bad and generic the first movie might have been, this is also generic, and very mike flanagan. i could see the oculus through it (but in a conventional story)... and also many other movies, all too familiar to even register as individual entries. this is simply a horror movie out of hundreds. well enough executed, but utterly read more

very much alright but also instantly forgettable. every time it tried to scare me with gaping mouths i thought about that scene in army of darkness when ash gets sucked into the book. read more
