i don't like horror movies but this one is really good. the hand scene was fucking awful but the rest was good. really deep thoughts went into this movie and it looks very good the colors are beautiful. but even when the movie is just 100 minutes long it's just too long for the conflict. the dog was random and not random at the same time. and it is really disturbing. for example when the father jax on her daughter yeah this was fucking weird. i and my host brother just went noooooooooooo hahahahaha. yeah 7/10 read more

i was skeptical of this film, thought it was probably just a salacious cash-in by netflix (one of the first netflix originals that i noticed) but i actually quite enjoyed it.  well...maybe "enjoyed" isn't the right word.  but it was good.  a pretty psychologically complex and morally dense film, it ties into how people experience love and develop their sense of self, and isn't afraid to dig into touchy subjects like women having "daddy issues" or people ignoring the bad behavior of those they love (thus being complicit in it.)  i saw this jokingly described as "50 shades of grey meets 127... read more

My quick rating - 6;9/10. Certain stories are just not going to work if you can't believe the acting. This would be one of them. I also have to say; at times our lead (Carla Gugino) loses focus; meaning she doesn't come off as believable. While this is a minor gripe; the only real thing that threatens this movie from being great is a seemingly rushed ending.
