quick "first impressions are everything": there is a difference between shaky cam, bad/"hidden" angles, quick, disorientating camera movement/angle changes as a result of someone holding the camera while fooling around or panicking, and quick cuts back and forth between different cameras. bw2016 constantly does the second, often with jarring changes in sound levels. that shit is not found footage, it is clearly editing, meaningless (some scenes show nothing at all and seem to only exist to sustain the adhd rhythm) and purposefully annoying editing. with sound cues. for what is supposed to be... read

quick hit: call me crazy, but i dug blair witch. the direct sequel to the 1999 phenomenon may lack a bit in terms of mystery and mood, but a found footage horror films go it's appropriately intense and does a nice job of setting up some twists along the well-traveled road that the original blazed. this film's biggest problem is that found footage is a glut in the marketplace anymore, and so the tricks that were innovative in 1999 just don't seem original this time around. but adam wingard and simon barrett did a nice job narratively tying this story to the original and they adapt the... read
