it is well made, but i don't know if i really needed 2.5 hours of dead dogs and unsympathetic characters. when the most likable character is a vagrant hitman, maybe you need to ask, "how dark is too dark?" inarritu and arriaga were clearly enthralled with the hyperlink structure popularized by pulp fiction as they used it not only here but in their next two films, 21 grams and babel as well. all three films are thematically and structurally very similar (in fact they have been referred to as inarritu's trilogy of death), but amores perros impressed me the least. i don't think that is because... read more
