Before Sunrise is a love story, yes, but it's more than that. It works counter to the quick character establishing ways of pretty much everything else, and allows us to concentrate on the joy of slowly diacovering more and more about someone. read more

before sunrise (1995) - exquisite romance - (10/10) [spoiler] before sunrise is the best romantic film of the 90s, and quite possibly of modern times. before sunrise is a marvelous achievement of cinematic exquisiteness. never before nor after, a film based entirely on dialogue, devoid of any action, thrill or crime made me glued to the monitor from it's first dialogue to the last, like before sunrise did. this film does not follow a well-labeled confrontation-climax-resolution narrative arc usually present in most romantic movies in the form of falling, fighting, and reconciling. the read more

a list of some things i thought of while watching the movie: - jesse's show idea sucks. i would watch it. same goes for the cow play. - the dynamic between the characters is very natural and honest, at least that's how i feel it haha - this movie is also a disguised tourist guide for vacationing in vienna in the 90s. (by the way, how many people actually stay up all night walking around their city center?) - i would like to go to that record store, it seems cool. - it would also be cool to meet these fellas, it wouldn't be bad to hang out with them. - that ending, it's just... perfect. - read more

well, turns out there is a way to make aro me care about your romance film. it's quite simple really; you have to make me care about your characters regardless of the romance aspect. now bear with me as i'm about to make the weirdest comparison i'll probably ever make in a review. before sunrise kind of reminds me of naked in the way that it develops its characters almost exclusively by letting them discuss life itself in a way that feels honest and real. it worked for me with naked and it worked for me here. i cared about these two people and even though i found the romance somewhat read more
