having finally seen the film i can agree with people calling it a masterpiece. so many fantastic scenes and each one topping the last. the restaurant scene monologue? saying hello to his little friend? chainsaw? the bath? i don't know what scene i loved the most. it's only taken me 29 years to get round to see this. in my defense i wasn't old enough for about half of them.... read

tony montana's speech at the restaurant was one of the best speeches i've heard from a movie. and pacino owns the role of tony montana. after seeing this film, i understand now where this filipino crime action films from the '80s to '90s inspiration comes from. i also think that all filipino action directors at that time want to have their own version of filipino tony montana. read

sometimes a movie can be too long. being too long could lead to a slow movie, a boring movie, a movie where a significant portion could be cut and you'd have a much better and more entertaining film. and sometimes a movie is too long but when you watch it you just don't care. scarface is the perfect example of this. it is about 30 minutes too long, it never seems to end and yet you could care less because you are so entertained by what you are seeing unfold before your eyes. this is mainly due to the cast, the director, the writer and the production values. the cast: minus steven bauer the... read
