I have been wanting to watch this one for a while as it's featured on many best Movie lists including 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die and also even on the Vatican's must see movies list. The leads are all great and the film itself is really well made by Director Roberto Rossellini. Interesting to note this was made just after the Nazis left Rome in June 1944. Arguably the first post war movie about WW2 that was made. Highly recommended read

Indeed, Rome Open City is not just a milestone in the history of Italian cinema but possibly, with De Sicas Bicycle Thieves, one of the most influential and symbolic films of its age, a movie about “reality” that has left a trace on every film movement since. It is also the story of a... read
