tandy and freeman are perfect in their roles, and a much younger aykroyd also performs commendably. this movie speaks more through what is left unsaid, and is a beautiful picture for it -- if you can catch the charming southern drawl throughout. read

I finally got around to seeing this one some 30 years later. The winner of the 1990 Best Picture award is really well done by director Bruce Beresford. The testy relationship by the African American chauffeur and an old Jewish woman ends up becoming a strong friendship. Jessica Tandy, Morgan Freeman and Dan Aykroyd all got awards for their roles and thoroughly deserved them. Highly recommended read

Driving Miss Daisy PG • 1 hour 39 min by Jonathan Rosenbaum October 26, 1985 Alfred Uhry adapts his own play about the relationship between a crotchety, elderly Jewish woman living in Atlanta (Jessica Tandy) and the slightly younger black man (Morgan Freeman) hired by her businessman son (Dan Aykroyd) to drive her around (1990).
