purely a visual film (both by the lack of dialog to form a story and the way most themes and gags are shown visually), it does a magnificent job at showing more than a story at the same time in the frame, using the composition exceptionally (specially the meeting scene). its aesthetic comparing the new industrial style (cold, dehumanizing) and the popular/traditional (disordered, full of personalities) it's very obvious but at least is never explicitly said. some jokes nowadays are kinda outdated (probably because monsieur hulot is 60 years old and we've seen most of his jokes being made by... read
